Understand how ARC Library preserves a book change and quietly reports an unusual sync result.
Published 2026-08-10 · Reviewed 2026-09-09
ARC Library keeps each book change in a private recovery journal before account sync begins. The journal belongs to the signed-in account and stays separate from the Library cache, so a refresh, cache reset, sign-out, or interrupted request cannot silently turn an unconfirmed change into a successful save.
Profile, theme, and display preferences also save automatically to your account. A successful background acknowledgement stays a success even when the database has nothing to send back, so ARC Library keeps syncing without asking you to retry, clear storage, or change a setting again.
When a save result looks unusual
ARC Library handles interrupted book saves automatically. Your change stays protected on the device while the app checks the account and resumes safe work. You do not need to press a retry button, clear data, or choose between copies of a book.
If ARC Library cannot safely confirm a result, it keeps the recovery record and creates one automatic support diagnostic. It does not show a data-loss warning or ask you to guess which copy should win. A genuine account conflict stays protected for review instead of being retried blindly.
The diagnostic is evidence for investigation, not proof that a book was deleted or lost. Support receives the affected book title and technical reference, the attempted action, retry count, changed field names, account lookup result, revision information, and any recorded deletion evidence. It never includes your notes, quotes, review text, links, full book record, credentials, or recovery payload.
An automatic diagnostic can appear in My reports as Automatic book sync diagnostic. You do not need to submit a duplicate report. The support team can use its reference to investigate and repair the affected account while the original recovery record remains private on that device.
If you try to sign out while changes are still queued, ARC Library checks the device before sign-out. Protected book changes remain assigned to the same account so they cannot be replayed into another account.
When you sign in with a different account, the previous Library leaves the screen before the next account loads. Cached books and late refresh results stay with their owner. If the next account has no books, its Library opens empty rather than showing the previous account's shelf.
After this update, an older cached Library may need one online refresh before its books appear again. Pending changes stay protected and assigned to their original account while the owned Library is reloaded.
When you change several books
Library batch edits and removals protect each selected book separately before syncing. If one book has a conflict or loses its connection, the other books can still finish and the result message gives you the confirmed and waiting counts. A waiting removal stays hidden while its removal request remains safely kept on this device.
Keep the app open if the message says a change could not be protected on the device. ARC Library tries device storage again when the app becomes active. For a normal waiting message, reconnect or bring the app back to the foreground so it can recheck the change. If it still cannot safely confirm the result, it creates an automatic support diagnostic without exposing your book content.
When ARC Library requires an update
ARC Library does not block you merely because a new version exists, even when it is a major release. The Required update screen appears only when ARC Library has specifically marked a version as necessary for safe account access.
Choose Open App Store, Open Google Play, Download update, or Refresh ARC Library, depending on your device. Install the update in place. Do not uninstall ARC Library or clear its app storage, because that can remove changes that are still waiting safely on that device.
Return to ARC Library after installing. The app checks again automatically, and Check again is available if you need it. Your account books are not deleted by the update screen.
If information looks missing
- Clear search and Library filters.
- Check the current desk, Library view, and book-type tab.
- Confirm the account email is the one that owns the data.
- Reconnect and refresh once.
Avoid recreating the same book repeatedly while an automatic diagnostic is open. ARC Library does not remove a cached book merely because it is absent from one account response. It requires recorded deletion evidence or preserves the local copy for support investigation.
